The Great Britain Speedway Team is the National team of British Speedway – while Great Britain has always had a National team competing on the World stage, a new era began in May of 2018 which saw a complete re-brand and new management structure unveiled.
The rebranded Great Britain Speedway Team was taken over by VRX Motorsport, led by Rob Painter and Vicky Blackwell, who set up a dedicated team focused solely on making the national side the most accomplished and professional outfit in World Speedway.
After months of negotiations, an agreement was struck which gave VRX control of the national team set-up,having worked tirelessly for months to put together a team of people who will work towards the ultimate goal of re-establishing the Great Britain Team as a Speedway powerhouse.
The mission is simple; to make Great Britain the most successful and most professional National Speedway team on the planet. From sports science experts, rider coaches, tactical analysts and branding specialists, the Great Britain Speedway Team consists of people that are not only experts in their chosen field but also people who are passionate about elevating GB to the very top.
Great Britain are currently ranked number two in the World and race every year in the FIM Team World Championship - Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations. Great Britain also take part in International Test Match Speedway against other leading Nations - the highest level of International competition staged between full 6 rider teams.
Despite stunning early success, when Great Britain came within one race of winning the Gold medal at the 2018 Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations tournament, there is a long-term vision in place with the goal of Great Britain regularly producing elite level athletes who can compete on the World stage.
Further information regarding the Great Britain Speedway Team will be released in due course can be found on their website - www.gbspeedwayteam.com
